An Interdisciplinary Approach to Art Education: Meditative Dance
2009 International Conference on the Arts in Society was held in Venice, Italy, 28 to 31 July 2009, in conjunction with the Venice Biennale. The 4-day conference has been organized at Palazzo Cavalli Franchetti, of the Istituto Veneto di Scienze, Lettere ed Arti, in the heart of the city, with access to pavilions along the Giardini.
The 2009 Arts Conference addressed a range of critically important issues and themes relating to the arts in society. Plenary speakers included leading thinkers and practitioners in the arts, as well as paper, workshop and colloquium presentations by researchers and practitioners in all fields of artistic engagement.
The theme of this year’s Conference was Art and Transnationalism. Our times demand nothing less than cross-disciplinary and holistic approaches. The breadth of the Conference and its accompanying Journal, however, were finely grained discussion of the specific, the local and the grounded practices.
The Conference provided a venue and a framework for the arts and art practices that are situated within the context of international art expositions, festivals and biennials engaged with the international production of art and its global distribution networks. The occasion of the Venice Biennale offered an opportunity for the Arts Conference to serve as a node in the larger fair and festival phenomenon and network.

'In Post Modern Era, artistic practices target everyone; aiming at unity and integration rather than separation. It has a priority of health. Arts education redesigns its approaches with a focus on human factor with a universal approach, and without excluding any segments.
This integrated view of arts acts as a new and unique opportunity for intercultural dialogue. As the artistic approach that is based on instrumental rationality gives its place to communicational intelligence, a new formula of integration in the field of arts, Meditative Dance has been grown out of a geography like Turkey that connects ideas as well as continents.
Inthe conclusion part, the integral role of Turkey in the field of culture and arts have been emphasized.
